Grooming Your Dog At Home

Grooming can be hard the first time because some dogs are afraid of water. Spray small drops of water about the pet's body initially. You can even put your dog in a tub, slowly filling it with water just so you won't be giving him or her quite a shock which you may not like. Once you get your dog calmed down, make sure that his whole coat is wet enough to apply shampoo. It would be best to use one formulated to prevent and kill fleas, ticks and other parasites. Apply shampoo then lather the coat thoroughly. Ensure that enough bubbles are produced to remove all the dirt. Once you are finished, rinse thoroughly with water until there are no bubbles remaining on the coat. Also, it's so important to cover up your canine's ears whenever water will be used in that area. Remember that a dog has tendency to shake off water from its body with force, drenching you too during the process. 


Following the bath is the time to do a few finishing touches. First, rub your dog's coating gently with towel, then use a blow drier on warm to very low heat. If your pet dog happens to have a long, thick and curly coating, you may want to consider trimming it up to give it a neater look. After clipping your dog's coat, be sure to brush him to take out all traces of stay hair. Then, pet clippers should be used on your dog's nails when they get long. Just do it slowly and carefully, targeting only the pointed tips of the paw nails. To top it all off if you’re not using Front line or some other topical flea defense, apply flea protection powder throughout the coating and voila!
